I'm so glad you’re here!
The first time I set out to design a space for a friend (long before I started my interior design company), I was SO overwhelmed.
I wasted weeks scrolling for inspiration, online shopping, and taking endless screenshots to save in hopes of creating a cohesive space. I had no clear path to design and not a clue how to go about designing a space from scratch. This was after years of training mind you. I had a degree in architecture (which was a 5-year program) and additional formal training as an interior designer, hence the request from my friend. At this point in my life, I was a stay-at-home mom and had just had my third baby, so was eager to jump at the opportunity to pursue my passion (that had been set on the back burner for a good 5 years at this point) and style a home for my friend and her sweet young family when she asked out of the blue.
That experience taught me that in spite of my abundance of professional training, I had much to learn. For the next several years, I set out to become a keen observer of design and in the process discovered 8 essential elements that every space needs and formulated that observation into what I now call,THE SECRETS OF DESIGN.
Ten years as a stay-at-home mom taught me a lot about what families need to not only function, but thrive. I founded STUDIO MEADOW, my interior design company, in the Spring of 2022 with the dream to make beautiful spaces and quickly learned that interior design is a luxury service that very few people can afford. THE SECRETS OF DESIGN is intended to bridge that gap and to educate and empower homeowners to be their own designer, because everyone should have a beautiful place to call home in which they can feel proud of.
